Summer News and Notes

Fellow Saints, Memorial Day weekend is generally recognized as the “kickoff” for summer, so I wanted to send you a couple of items for you to keep in mind.

  1. Keep an eye on the Sunday night schedule through the summer.  We’ll try to keep you informed about different events and “no PM service” dates, and you’ll want to watch the bulletin.  (Speaking of Sunday nights, I will be bringing a proposal  about our Sunday night services to the June business meeting for our discussion.)  A quick promo flash: we will be having a “song night” on July 5 (see Austin if you’re interested in singing or playing).
  2. Some dates and activities for your attention and involvement and prayers:
    • End-of-year meal for Lanesville School, faculty and staff: This Friday, 12:00 PM.
    • VBS carwash on June 13;  11:00 to 1:00.  This is an annual service ministry to the community: a free (yes, free!) car wash with hot dogs and drinks.  And, we use this activity to help promote our Vacation Bible School.  We need “all hands on deck” for this event.
    • Vacation Bible SchoolJune 22-27; 6:00 to 8:30 pm  Though our main servant spots are filled, we can always use extra workers and encouragers.  (Caleb is the point of contact for VBS.)
    • God and Country Picnic;  Saturday, July 4th,  11:30 to 1:30
    • Summer Mission Trip for Students; July 21-27.   Caleb and Austin will be taking our youth to New York City
    • Summer Mission Trip for Adults; August 23-28.   We will return to Lynch, KY to serve with Meridzo Ministries.  INFO MEETING ON THIS TRIP WILL BE HELD THIS SUNDAYimmediately following the morning worship service.
  3. HHBC 40th Anniversary celebration weekend; July 11 & 12.   Saturday, 6:00 pm: Fellowship meal with celebration testimonies.   Sunday AM, July 12, 40th Anniversary Service.  Dr. Cecil Seagle, Executive Director for the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana will be our guest preacher.  (He and his wife, Peggie, are also planning to be our guests at the meal on the 11th.)

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of the summer season.  Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of the summer season.  As you can see, we have several ways for you to remain active at HHBC – and repeat opportunities for you to invite and bring guests – especially those who are unsaved and/or unchurched.  Our schedule is full, but I trust it is not too full; and I trust it will help us stay focused on God throughout this most-anticipated season.  I ask  you to pray for each event, and, where your summer schedule will permit, I ask you to link arms with us.
